Why Your Headcount Determines Everything
Deciding who makes the cut is often the trickiest part of wedding planning. It is tempting to put it off, but your guest list is the backbone of your entire day. Your headcount affects everything, from the catering bill to the number of tables and chairs.
Simple ways to lock in your guest list, keep your budget on track, and fill your day with the people who matter most.
Why Your Headcount Determines Everything
We get it, deciding who makes the cut can be one of the trickiest parts of wedding planning. It’s tempting to put it off, but your guest list is more than just names on a spreadsheet. It’s the backbone of your entire day.
Your headcount affects everything: the food and drinks bill, the number of tables and chairs, the amount of linen and flowers. If the list grows, so does the cost. Trim it down and you might be able to treat yourselves to a few extras you love.
Sorting it early means fewer surprises later and a much clearer budget.
Three Wedlii Questions to Help You Trim the List
Will we invite kids?
A few little ones won’t change much, but if you’re talking 20 or more, remember it’s not just about seating them at the table. You’ll also need to think about activities to keep them entertained and safe. Going adults only could save you a good chunk of money and keep the day simpler.
Do we need to invite co-workers?
If they’re genuine mates, go for it. But if it’s just out of obligation, it’s okay to skip them. Keeping your guest list small and personal can make your day feel more special, budget friendly, and allow for more details that truly reflect you as a couple.
Will this person still be in our lives in five years?
If the answer’s no, they probably don’t need to be on the list.
💡 Wedlii Tip:
Invite the people whose absence would truly upset you on your big day. If you can’t imagine celebrating without them, they belong on your list.
A Gentle Wedlii Reminder
Your wedding is about celebrating with the people who are part of your life right now. You don’t have to invite everyone you’ve ever known, and there’s no need to feel guilty about leaving someone out if you haven’t seen them in years.
💡 Wedlii Tip:
Finalising your guest list early gives you confidence, keeps your budget accurate, and helps you book the right vendors without stress.
